ABOUT ME

Feature engagements with various ensembles as well as regular dates in one of Toronto's hottest martini bars have made Carlo Berardinucci, in a very short while, a favourite with local fans of popular standards and classic crooners. Along with building a loyal fan base, he has attracted the attention and support of prominent individuals in the city’s music industry. As an actor and singer, he has also had the opportunity to lend his talents to various Canadian and American TV and film productions. Carlo has sung with some of this country’s finest musicians " Norman Marshall Villeneuve, Bernie Senensky, Ross MacIntyre, Joel Haynes, Bryden Baird, Pat Collins, Andrew Scott, Nathan Hiltz, Peter Hill, George Koller, Paul Delong, John Macleod to name a few.

Having fine-tuned his talent, first as a student of Theatre Performance and Music at Concordia University then as a performer in numerous jazz clubs in the city, Carlo has set the stage for his latest production, his debut CD, “She Made Me Do It.” In addition to original compositions, he has included a collection of standards. Even though these songs have been borrowed from an earlier era you will not hear the ghosts of singers past. What you will hear is a sound rich in emotion and authenticity. Some of the music is uplifting, some soulful, and some heart-rending but all of it is warm and engaging. Contact

"Carlo Berardinucci sings classic ballads with some of the same period flair that distinguishes jazz-pop crossover sensation Michael Bublé; accompaniments are provided by Nathan Hiltz, Bernie Senensky, Pat Collins and Joel Haynes." Nov 6."Stuart Broomer

"On a different note, a new jazz voice has popped up right here in the Beach. With the release of his debut CD She Made Me Do It, Carlo Berardinucci has announced that he is ready to take his place among the many great jazz vocalists this city has the pleasure of calling their own."

"She Made Me Do It is the culmination of several years of vocal lessons to hone his instrument, and well as the steady playing and rehearsing with his band, made up of Bernie Senensky on piano, Joel Haynes on drums, Nathan Hiltz, guitar, and Pat Collins, bass. The result is a beautiful introduction to this young and talented vocalist."

"The title track is a tune written by Berardinucci and Hiltz. It’s a great up tempo opening to the CD and should nicely take its place among jazz vocal standards. The duo also wrote Don’t Go, a gentle Latin-inspired ballad that demonstrates the stylistic breadth that this writing partnership is capable of. Expect to see their names in the credits list of other performers’ recordings."

"Some of the highlights for me from She Made Me Do It include a rendition of the standard Bye Bye Blackbird that Carlo makes his own with that great Italian vocalist confidence, à la Bennett or Sinatra. Another standard, Nature Boy, is beautifully sung to the snappy bass intro by Collins. The performance is a tribute to Berardinucci’s excellent pitch control, and leans more to Kurt Elling than Nat King Cole."

"Carlo remembers his Montreal past when he performs the original French version of Michel Legrand’s Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, and Joseph Kosma’s Les Feuilles Mortes."

"Of course a jazz vocalist is sometimes only as good as his band, and in this case, Carlo is in good company. Each member of this quartet is an excellent musician in his own right, as heard by the numerous solos each of them take throughout the CD. But it’s their ensemble playing that makes the recording. As Berardinucci says, this is the same group of guys he performs live with night after night, so they are truly ”together” ."
